Sealing principle of CF flange

CF flange is a very common form of flange connection, and its sealing principle mainly adopts two methods: packing sealing and metal sealing.

1. Packing seal: The packing seal of CF flange is mainly achieved by placing packing materials such as graphite, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), etc. at the flange connection. The function of packing is to fill the small gaps between flange connections, thereby achieving a sealing effect. After the flange is connected, the packing is compressed by pressing the gland to fully fill the gap and form a sealing layer at the connection.

2. Metal sealing: The metal sealing of CF flanges is mainly achieved through the contact sealing of the metal sealing surface at the flange connection. The good airtightness of CF flanges mainly relies on the flatness of their sealing surface and the highest sealing pressure. Metal sealing has high reliability and is suitable for high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive media environments.

Whether it is a packing seal or a metal seal, the sealing performance of CF flanges depends on the clamping force and the quality of the sealing surface. Appropriate clamping force can make the packing or metal sealing surface fully contact and adapt to the deformation between connections, thereby achieving good sealing effect. At the same time, the quality of the sealing surface will directly affect the sealing performance, such as surface flatness and smoothness.

In general, the sealing principle of CF flanges is achieved through two methods: packing sealing and metal sealing. The sealing performance of flange connections is achieved through appropriate clamping force and sealing surface quality.
